Improved-modified choke distances would fall somewhere between modified and full. In bird hunting, it obviously helps to know the distances you will likely be shooting before stepping into the field. I have a SBM 418 w/a 4.08 bore and worse-the prev owner of the block did some bore notching. On a freshen up screwed up and ordered 4.08 bore gaskets so, bad enough but with the bore notches... So far so good about 50 passes. They are MLS gaskets.
