Chu Shong-tin was born in Guangzhou China, 13th May 1933, and moved to Hong Kong in 1949. He started working as secretary of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Restaurant Workers Union and whilst there he met famous Wing Chun Kung Fu Master Ip Man, who was teaching members of the union.
